Hydrogen has built an advanced spending control framework on top of processor and card network APIs. This framework allows you, or your cardholders, to enforce multiple controls.
Basic Spending Controls
You, or your cardholder(s), can set spending controls for a card based on the following criteria:
Spending Limit Controls
- Specific Transaction Categories (MCC Codes)
- Purchases
- ATM Withdrawals
Transaction Limit Controls
- Specific Transaction Categories (MCC Codes)
- Purchases
- ATM Withdrawals
Approval Based Controls
- Allow Specific Transaction Categories (MCC Codes) Only
- Deny Specific Transaction Categories (MCC Codes)
Here is an example from the Card Controls no-code component that can be embedded inside of your web or mobile app for the end cardholder:
Advanced Spending Controls
In addition, you as the Hydrogen client can also set spending controls at specific merchants by their Merchant ID (MID). For example, you may form a partnership with ESG companies to reward your cardholders for recycling. You want to limit purchases on the card to only the ESG companies you have partnered with. When the cardholder swipes their card, the Hydrogen API will validate that the transaction matches the approved MIDs.
